My Approach

In the ever changing world, it can be challenging to build resilience and adapt; I’m here to help listen and guide you through the many transitions life brings with compassion and understanding. I am an integrative trauma-informed intersectional feminist therapist. That means that I integrate into your therapy a balance of the best techniques based on current scientific evidence as well as your individual needs, preferences, past traumas, and multi-cultural identities. I provide therapy that is unique to fit your needs and goals for therapy while taking skills from treatments like ACT, AEDP, CBT, DBT, and TLDP.

Therapy with me will look different depending on what you’re looking for in treatment. Some examples are: adapting strategies to help recover from depression; providing a space and assistance to reduce your anxieties; helping you discover more about yourself; processing relational traumas of the past; managing a specific fear, worry, or symptom; healing your inner child; and supporting you during a life transition. Whatever your previous experience with therapy (none, bad, good, or anything between), I hope this experience will be unique. Therapy is a joint effort and I will help guide our work to discover the method that best helps you.

The therapeutic relationship is a vital part of any therapy. If you’re interested in working with me, here is a little bit more about myself. I’m Darcy Oryall, an able-bodied, white, non-indigenous, genderqueer clinician in my 30’s and a US citizen from a Christian background. I use different pronouns on different days (usually she/her, they/them, or he/him). I am very cautious about the changing digital landscape (hence me not having a photo), but I am also fairly well versed in technology and would describe myself as a nerd. My clinical and research interest is working with transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse peoples; however, as the LGBTQIA+ community is filled with a range of experiences and identities, I find that in practice this has made me a strong generalist in most therapeutic issues - including with folk I share no salient identities with.
